Will Trent Pilot - Set Design / Illustration - Production Designer Adam Davis

Key Shot Bull Pen The Atlanta PD and GBI sets are both housed inside a great old brick warehouse building. The APD sets are meant to give a sort of gritty retro feeling, In stark contrast to the GBI which is modern and clean.

This is some of the work I did for the ABC series Will Trent Pilot. I did this work directly for Adam Davis ( production Designer ) and Matthew Carey ( Art Director ).

At first the production was looking simply for a set designer and they contacted me to come in and talk. Adam quickly realized I could help him much more as a senior illustrator designing the spaces and establishing look and feel. which is what my actual role for film projects has primarily been. Because this was a pilot and therefore had budget constraints on building sets, much of the production was shot on exising locations with heavy redesign.

The first task I set upon was to take the basic massing models of the chosen set areas and flesh them out with details and texture. I then proceeded to add more and more levels of detail based on Adams design intent and working in set pieces the production had available to them. At the end I produced a myriad of design views and illustrations...

This is very much the same process I use for Television Commercials but on a much greater scale and scope. Over a month and a half, 6 to 7 days a week, I did multiple takes on 5 of the environments within the Pilot episode, 3 of which are central to the storyline of the series. Wills House, The Atlanta PD and Georgia Bureau of Investigation. A huge amount of work went into this project and Im proud to say the Pilot was well received and picked up so I guess it was all worth it...
